We are hosting Christina Bernet, a production engineer who has earned her PE from Bonanza Creek Energy. Bonanza Creek Energy is an independent energy company producing oil and gas in the United States based out of Denver, CO. Their operations are focused in Northern Colorado and Southern Arkansas. The company has transitioned into a somewhat newer form of drilling – horizontal drilling – which is much more cost effective. Come learn about chemical engineering in the oil and gas field!

Two CSU Alumni are visiting from KBI Biopharma, a company based in Boulder that helps optimize drug development and the manufacturing processes for them. Their website can be found here.

Dr. Ken Reardon, professor and Associate Department Head of Chemical and Biological Engineering, presents his research in biotechnology. This includes biosensors, biofuels, and the application of proteomics.

We will be hosting members of the Rocky Mountain AIChE Professional Chapter and there will be a presentation from Dr. Peebles and the iGEM team on“Metabolic engineering of cyanobacteria for fuels and chemicals”
7:00pm – 7:30pm Dinner and informal poster session with grad students
7:30pm – 8:30pm Presentation by CSU iGEM team and Dr. Peebles

Update! AIChE Meeting – Tue Oct 27 at 7:00pm

The next AIChE Meeting will be on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7:00pm in the Scott atrium. We will be hosting members of the Rocky Mountain AIChE Professional Chapter, and the CSU iGem team and CBE faculty member Dr. Christie Peebles will be presenting on “Metabolic Engineering of Cyanobacteria for Fuels and Chemicals”.


A tentative schedule for the meeting is as follows:
7:00-7:30 Dinner and poster presentations by grad students
7:30 – 8:30 Presentation by CBE professor or grad student

Rockies Game with Rocky Mountain AIChE Professional Chapter

Please jon us for a social networking event with the Rocky Mountain Professional Chapter of AIChE and Young Professionals. We have 25 tickets to the Rockies baseball game on Sunday September 27, 2015. The game is at 2:10pm down in Denver at Coors Field.

Tickets cost $15 with a $6 concessions voucher included. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket please email our treasurer Austen at At this time we have 6 tickets remaining.

This is the last Rockies home game and a great opportunity to connect and network with fellow CBE students in addition to young professionals working in a variety of chemical and biological engineering fields. Should be a lot of fun and you don’t want to miss out!

We will be organizing a carpool down to Denver for the game. More details to come in the near future, please check back soon.

Internship Panel: Sept 15

There will be an AIChE meeting on September 15, 2015 at 5:30pm. The meeting will be held in Engr 120.

We will be hosting a panel with 5 students who did different internships over the summer. Come and ask different questions that you have on internships!
