Student Travel Awards

The IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Networks-on-Chip (NOCS) organizing committee plans to provide travel grants for students to attend NOCS’19 to be held in New York, NY, USA in October 2019. The actual travel award amount will depend on the location of the applicant.

Proceeds from these grants can be applied towards registration, airfare, ground transportation, and hotel expenses to attend NOCS. Awardees are expected to make their own travel arrangements.

Note: The deadline for student travel grant application is 25th August 2019.

Student applicants will be asked to submit an application package to be considered for these travel grants.  A committee consisting of the TPC co-chairs, the general co-chairs, and the chair of the NOCS steering committee, will evaluate the applications and select the travel grant recipients.  The following criteria will be considered in the selection process:

  • The funding will be used for student travel-related support only.
  • The recipients of the travel awards must be US-based students only, that is, students attending universities in the US (not necessarily US citizens or permanent residents).
  • Students at all levels of higher education are eligible, but priority will be given to PhD students.
  • All student travel awardees are required to register for the conference.

An application for a travel award will consist of the student’s vita, a statement of research activity/interest by the student, and a support letter from the student’s adviser.   The student statement of research activity/interest should include:

  • A brief summary of research interests and accomplishments to date;
  • A description of areas reflected in the NOCS program that would impact the student’s research; and
  • Why the conference attendance is important to the student.

The student’s adviser support/recommendation letter should address the following points:

  • Confirmation that the student is in good standing in her/his degree program;
  • The suitability of the NOCS program material to the student’s research area;
  • Ways this particular student would benefit from attending the conference;
  • The strengths and potential contributions of the student;

The travel grant application should be sent via email to NOCS’19 TPC Chairs Sudeep Pasricha ( and Ajay Joshi (
