2005 MTT-S Microwave Prize - best-paper (journal paper) award by the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) - granted for a paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques (or other MTT-S publications) in 2003. (past awardees: Microwave Prize)
The winning paper is entitled "Higher Order Hierarchical Curved Hexahedral Vector Finite Elements for Electromagnetic Modeling" (IEEE Transactions on MTT, March 2003, Vol.51, (3), pp.1026-1033) and authored by Dr. Milan Ilic (former Ph.D. student) and Dr. Notaros.
The award was presented on June 15, 2005 at the MTT-S Awards Banquet as a part of the 2005 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium held from June 11-17, 2005 in Long Beach, California.
Best-paper (journal paper) award by the IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers), London, United Kingdom (IEE-wide award) - granted for a paper published in the IEE Proceedings on Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation in 1997/1998.
Dr. Notaros received this award jointly with Dr. Branko Popovic for their paper entitled "General entire-domain Galerkin method for analysis of wire antennas in the presence of dielectric bodies" (IEE Proc. Microw., Antennas Prop., Vol.145, No.1, February 1998, pp.13-18).
The award was presented at the Opening Meeting of the Electronics & Communications Division of the IEE held at Savoy Place, London, UK, on October 13, 1999.
2022 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Edward E. Altshuler Prize Paper Award - best-paper (journal paper) award by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) "to recognize the best contribution published in the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine in the preceding calendar year."
The winning paper is: B. M. Notaros, "Meteorological Electromagnetics: Optical and Radar Measurements, Modeling, and Characterization of Snowflakes and Snow," Invited Article (first ever in this new category), IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, Vol. 63, No. 2, April 2021, pp. 14-27, featured on the cover of the magazine.
Prof. Notaros was presented with the award on July 13, 2022 by Prof. Gianluca Lazzi, President of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society, at the AP-S Awards Ceremony as a part of the 2022 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation held from July 10-15, 2022 in Denver, Colorado.

2015 IEEE Undergraduate Teaching Award, IEEE-level award, "for inspirational teaching of undergraduate students in the fields of interest of the IEEE," with the citation "For contributions to undergraduate electromagnetics education through inspiring teaching and innovative course materials."

Dr. Notaros won this award in a solicited university-wide competition and was named Scholar of the Year for 2005 at UMass Dartmouth based on a nomination by professors of the ECE Department, supported by ten letters of evaluation from prominent scholars, and a decision by the Scholar of the Year Award Committee comprised from faculty representatives from all colleges, academic councils, and library at the university.
The award was presented to Dr. Notaros at the UMass Faculty Federation Annual Awards Banquet on December 6, 2005.
