OUR MISSION

Ram Racing is a diverse group of students that collaborate to design, build and race a formula style car through the implementation and execution of engineering concepts. Ram Racing upholds Colorado State University’s Principles of Community, to provide students with real world experience and prepare for industry success. We strive to be a top contender at the international FSAE collegiate competitions. We will accomplish this by building capable critical thinkers who demand excellence and success, while creating an inviting, safe environment that above all, fuels passion.

The Formula SAE competition challenges teams of university undergraduate and graduate students to conceive, design, fabricate, and develop a formula style racecar for competition. The competition requires performance demonstration of vehicles in a series of events, both off track and on track against the clock.

PRESENTATION

The Presentation Event evaluates the team’s ability to develop and deliver a comprehensive business, logistical, production, or technical case that will convince outside interests to invest in the team’s concept.

COST AND MANUFACTURING

The Cost and Manufacturing Event evaluates the ability of the team to consider budget and incorporate production considerations for production and efficiency.

DESIGN

The Design Event evaluates the engineering effort that went into the vehicle and how the engineering meets the intent of the market both in terms of vehicle performance and overall value.

In addition to the 8 events, each vehicle will go through a Technical Inspection. The purpose of the inspection is to determine if the vehicle meets the Formula SAE rules, requirements, and restrictions.

ACCELERATION

The Acceleration event evaluates the vehicle acceleration in a straight line on flat pavement.

SKID PAD

The Skidpad event measures the vehicle's cornering ability on a flat surface while making a constant radius turn.

AUTOCROSS

The Autocross event evaluates the vehicle's maneuverability and handling qualities on a tight course.

ENDURANCE

The Endurance event evaluates the overall performance of the vehicle and tests the durability and reliability.

EFFICIENCY

The Efficiency event evaluates the fuel/energy used to complete the Endurance event
