Dr. Jathar's Courses

Dr. Jathar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University. Below are his current course offerings.

Course Description: First and second laws of thermodynamics, properties of pure substances, analysis of open and closed thermodynamic systems, applications of thermodynamic principles to power, vapor, and refrigeration cycles.

Course Description: Basic principles of engineering economy (e.g., time value of money), economic analysis techniques (e.g., net present value), uncertainty analysis, taxes and depreciation, application to real-world problems in energy and the environment.

Course Description: Vehicle dynamics and efficiency, combustion and emission formation, powertrain design for electric vehicles, conventional and alternative fuels, travel demand and modes, life cycle assessment.

Course Description: Physical and chemical principles underlying the behavior of particles suspended in air, including particle size, aerodynamics, motion of particles in a force field, particle size statistics, and optical and electrical properties.
