ICGraph

  1. to invoke ICGraph type ic
  2. to create a new cell
    1. select the Create item in the Cell area of the Session palette menu
    2. enter your cell name in the Cell Name field of the pop-up form
    3. enter the process definition file name(/class/EE571/Tsmc018) in the Process field of the pop-up form
    4. select OK on the pop-up form
  3. Editing a cell
    1. select the Open item in the Cell area of the Session palette menu
    2. enter the cell name to open int the Cell Name field
    3. select the Edit button
    4. select OK on the pop-up form
  4. close a window select the Close item of the widow bar menu
  5. select the Easy Edit palette
  6. adding polygons
    1. select the Add Shape item on the palette menu
    2. select the Options button on the prompt bar
    3. select the layer to add the polygon to from the pop-up menu
    4. select the Keep Options button if you want to add more than one polygon on that layer
    5. draw a rectangle by clicking the left mouse button at on a vertex and dragging the the mouse to the other vertex.
    6. draw an arbitrary polygon by clicking the left mouse button at each vertex and double clicking at the last vertex.
  7. unselect items using the Unselect item of the pop-up menu or the F2 key to unselect everything.
  8. select items by placing the mouse cursor over the item and pressing F1. Dragging the mouse with the F1 key will select an area
  9. move objects
    1. select the objects to move
    2. select the Move item of the palette menu
    3. click the left mouse button at the new location
  10. delete objects
    1. select the objects to delete
    2. select the Delete item of the palette menu
  11. moving polygon vertices
    1. select the polygon to modify
    2. select the Stretch item on the palette menu
    3. draw a polygon using the left mouse button that encloses the vertices to move
    4. draw a line with the left mouse button
  12. changing a polygon shape
    1. select the polygon
    2. select the Notch item of the palette menu
    3. draw a polygon that intersects the existing polygon
      1. if the new polygon starts outside the existing one a notch will be cut in the existing polygon
      2. if the new polygon starts inside the existing one it will be merged with the existing polygon
  13. copying objects
    1. select the objects to be copied
    2. select the Copy item of the palette menu
    3. click the left mouse button at the location for the copy
  14. adding a cell to a hierarchical design
    1. select the Objects --> Add --> Cell: item from the menu bar
    2. enter the cell name in the pop-up prompt bar
    3. select the Location button on the prompt bar
    4. click the left mouse button at the location to insert the cell
  15. making an array of cells in a hierarchical design
    1. select the cell to be made into an array
    2. select the Objects --> Make --> Array: item from the menu bar
    3. fill in the fields of the prompt bar: generally the defaults are not correct.
    4. select OK on the prompt bar
  16. creating a sub cell from a flat design
    1. select the geometries to make into a sub-cell
    2. select the objects --> Make --> Cell item from the menu bar
    3. enter the name of the cell in the pop-up form
    4. select OK on the pop-up form
  17. viewing a cell
    1. use the Shift F8 key to view the entire cell
    2. use the F8 key and drag a rectangle to view an area
  18. viewing sub-cells in a hierarchical design
    1. select the cell to be viewed
    2. type in peek
    3. enter the number of layers to be peeked in the prompt bar
  19. hiding sub-cells in a hierarchical design
    1. select the cell to be hidden
    2. type in unpeek
  20. editing sub-cells in a hierarchical design
    1. select the Context --> Hierarchy --> Set Context item on the menu bar
    2. click the left mouse button on a geometry in the sub-cell to be edited
    3. select the File --> Cell --> Reserve --> Current Context item from the menu bar
    4. perform the edits
    5. select the File --> Cell --> Save Cell --> Current Context item from the menu bar to save the edits
    6. select the Context --> Hierarchy --> Set Context Up item from the menu bar to leave the sub-cell context.
  21. placing signal names on the layout
    1. select a geometry that comprises the wire for the signal
    2. select the Prop Text item on the palette menu
    3. select the Options item on the prompt bar
    4. select the same layer as the geometry to be labeled on the pop-up form
    5. enter 4 in the Height field of the pop-up form
    6. select the Keep Option Settings button on the pop-up form
    7. select OK on the pop-up form
    8. enter gdsii_text in the Name field of the prompt bar
    9. enter the signal name in the Value field of the prompt bar
    10. select the Location button on the prompt bar
    11. click the left mouse button at the location for the signal name. Note: The left mouse button click must be inside the owning geometry for the signal name
  22. to discard edits in a cell select File --> Cell --> Unreserve --> Current Context form the menu bar
  23. to perform an incremental save of current edits to a cell without losing the edit reservation select the File --> Cell --> Checkpoint Cell --> Current Context
  24. print small layouts
    1. select the File --> Print --> Print Cell... item from the menu bar
    2. select the Setup Print... item from the pop-up form
    3. enter mentor_c211 in the Printer Name box in the pop-up form
    4. select the By Value item in the pop-up form
    5. select the OK button in the pop-up form
    6. select the OK button in the pop-up form
  25. exit ICGraph by selecting the File --> Exit Session item on the menu bar
