other information For twelve years I worked for NASA-JSC in Houston, Texas, training astronauts and flight controllers in the operations and malfunction procedures of the space shuttle control and propulsion systems. (Great fun!) In 1996, having discovered the Japanese martial art of Aikido, I packed up and moved to Chicago, Illinois to learn how to become a professional Aikido instructor under Fumio Toyoda Shihan. From 1996 to 2001 I lived, trained, and worked at the national headquarters dojo of the Aikido Association of America, training intensively in both Aikido and Zen, in the uchideshi (live-in student) and professional instructor training programs. Following my teacher's death I opened a dojo in Chicago which operated for a year. Then I decided to relocate to northwest Indiana, where I had been teaching for several years. Currently I am a fourth-degree blackbelt and operate my own dojo in Merrillville, Indiana. Our web site is www.aikidoconnection.com/indiana.
