Accreditation of Undergraduate BME Program

The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredits college and university programs in a number of disciplines including engineering. According to the organization, "With ABET accreditation, students, employers, and the society we serve can be confident that a program meets the quality standards that produce graduates prepared to enter a global workforce." The acceditation process cannot begin until after a program graduates its first class. Our first graduates were in Spring 2015, and thus, the School of Biomedical Engineering is currently preparing for its initial evaluation. We are planning on ABET's visit in Fall 2015. The accreditation process takes aproximately 18 months.
