Rocketry and Mining Systems is a passionate team of Colorado State University engineers competing in this year\u2019s NASA University Student Launch Initiative (USLI). Our core group of 12 senior leaders, 10 Mechanical Engineering majors, 1 Electrical Engineering major, and 1 Computer Engineering major, is supported by a dedicated team of underclassmen. Together, we\u2019re working to bring CSU back to Huntsville, Alabama, and continue our tradition of innovation and excellence in rocketry. The NASA USLI competition is a student-led rocket competition in which students design, build, and launch a rocket to compete against other universities while completing NASA's payload mission. This competition takes inspiration from the sample & return missions by allowing students to think creatively to complete the mission statement. This year, students must design, manufacture, and assemble a reusable launch vehicle capable of carrying a payload that collects and analyzes 50mL of soil.<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The team participated in their first full-scale vehicle launch on Saturday, February 1st in Ault where the team launched and tested their first full-scale vehicle of the year. This will serve as a Vehicle Demonstration Flight and research for the Payload Demonstration Flight.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

R.A.M.S. wrapped our Preliminary Design Review<\/strong>\u00a0with NASA. PDR is the Student Launch checkpoint to show our rocket and payload concepts meet requirements and risks are understood before detailed design; we left with clear action items and valuable feedback to sharpen testing and interfaces on the way to CDR.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t
