Semester Charge for Technology (CFT)<\/h3>

The ESTC determines the semester CFT at the end of each academic year. The current charge of $178.50 per semester (with no charge for the summer session) was ratified at the meeting of October 28, 2022.<\/p>

Printing in college computer labs\u00a0is based on a print quota system<\/h3>

Each student receives $21 worth of print credits each academic year. If the student exhausts the $21, additional credits may be purchased in $10 increments from the Engineering Technology Services (ETS) Help Desk – (quotas established in 2000-2001).<\/p>

Software licenses<\/h3>

No more than 80% of any given software purchase or package may be paid for with CFT funds, regardless of how the software is used. – policy established 12\/23\/09<\/i>
Exception is that student-used common software (ANSYS, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Microsoft Office 365) be paid for 100% from the ESTC budget for the upcoming academic year, excluding the cost paid for college and departmental-level administrative costs for software such as Microsoft Office 365 and portions paid for by other departments on campus for LabVIEW. – policy revised 3\/21\/16<\/i><\/p>

Services for non-engineering majors<\/h3>

Non-engineering majors will be provided with the following limited services: 4GB of network file space, $5 of print credits, and access to all college computer labs. – policy established 2\/5\/03 and last updated 7\/25\/23<\/i><\/p>

Equipment purchases<\/h3>

Computing equipment purchased with CFT funds must be purchased through Engineering Technology Services and adhere to existing college standards. – policy established 2\/21\/01<\/i><\/p>

Loaner Laptops<\/h3>

Because the ESTC provides loaner laptops to all engineering students via check-out from Engineering Technology Services, CFT funds may not be used by departments to purchase general purchase laptops for checkout. – policy reaffirmed 2\/25\/10<\/i><\/p>

Virtual Classroom<\/h3>
The Virtual Classroom is a limited resource and should not be used for running processes that consume an excessive amount of CPU or RAM. For processes that have a minor impact on system performance: greater than 30% after 60 minutes, the user will receive a warning via e-mail. If the user has an active session, a pop-up warning will be sent.
