Industry Partnerships

Partnerships between individuals, industry, and the college take many forms and are designed to benefit all involved. Here are a few examples of recent partnerships. If you have an interest in partnering with the College of Engineering, please contact Sonia Kreidenweis-Dandy, Associate Dean for Research, College of Engineering.

Our department would like to create professorship in the areas of advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, energy, health, aerospace, environmental, and systems engineering to enhance the reputation of the Department and to provide recognition for continued contributions of an existing faculty member. These positions are crucial for recruiting and retaining the highest quality faculty. Building a solid base of faculty talent enriches the academic environment, which attracts the brightest students, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Scholarships & Fellowships

In any year, 10%-15% of our students are supported by a scholarship or fellowship. In 2011-12, students received 257 scholarships. Alumni, friends, faculty, staff and industry have donated these funds to ensure that well-prepared students have access to a cutting-edge, hands-on engineering education. Companies often create scholarships to connect with students who meet a particular profile or have specific areas of interest, and are able to keep their “pipelines” of talent full of up-and-coming engineers who will be their company’s future. Scholarships can be created for as little as $1,000.

Few other public-relations options rival the power of a named space on a college campus to get your company noticed and remembered by a large body of students, faculty, and visitors to the university. Imagine the impact of scientists and engineers engaged in groundbreaking research in a laboratory that bears your company’s name, or the power of a press release announcing a cutting-edge discovery made by a faculty member whose endowed chair includes your company’s name. Do you want to make your company’s name synonymous with innovation and discovery? Many opportunities exist within the College of Engineering.

Senior Design Partner

Your company has the opportunity to sponsor a Senior Design Project. The Senior Design Program is the capstone engineering design course of the mechanical engineering department. Students gain real-world engineering design experience by participating in major intercollegiate project competitions and working in teams that simulate the technological environments of small, medium, and large companies.
