Abril and Sailaja both defended their MS thesis recently and are soon off to greener pastures (Abril just accepted a position at Toyota to work on hybrid electric vehicles). Congratulations to both of them! Abril’s work investigated the use of neural network models to simulate fuel economy and emissions from hydraulic and electric hybrid vehicles. Sailaja’s work revolved around the development and use of semi-explicit chemistry and thermodynamic models to simulate the formation and composition of secondary organic aerosol from oxidation of diesel exhaust.
