Research

Our group studies biotechnological solutions to a wide range of global issues, such as the decarbonization of energy systems and remediation of environmental contaminants. From the design of novel bio-based fuel chemicals, to engineering sustainable bioprocesses, to studying complex interactions of microbial communities, we are interested in harnessing the unique capabilities of microbes to carry out important industrial and environmental processes.

Biosensors are analytical devices that employ biological components such as enzymes and antibodies to detect specific molecules. Biosensors have applications in food safety, environmental monitoring, healthcare, and bioprocessing.
