Dr. Sandra G. Biedron, a new associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is passionate about facilitating the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines. She is serving on the international organizing committee and program committee of the joint IEEE and American Physical Society 2011 Particle Accelerator Conference http://www.bnl.gov/pac11/ to be held in New York March 28 to April 1. At the conference, Dr. Biedron will be spearheading the second annual Women in Engineering (WIE) Reception. The event is sponsored by the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS).
While Biedron's five-year elected term on the IEEE NPSS Administrative Committee for Particle Accelerator Science and Technology (PAST) recently concluded, she will continue serving as an advocate for women in engineering by organizing the WIE sessions at the accelerator conferences as well serving as the NPSS liaison for the IEEE-USA research and development policy committee and as a member of the PAST technical committee.
