WSCOE Honors Karan Venayagamoorthy for Teaching, Mentoring and Service

On November 4, 2019 the Dean McLean of the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering awarded Professor Karan Venayagamoorthy with the George T. Abell Faculty Award for Teaching, Mentoring and Service.

Venayagamoorthy said the award is validating because he considers teaching and mentoring students to be the highest calling in his job as a professor, and an enriching and rewarding experience.

“Receiving the Abell Faculty Award for Teaching, Mentoring and Service is truly gratifying to me because I deeply value the opportunity I am given to teach and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students at CSU,” he said. “There is so much potential in our classrooms and in our research labs, and it is such a privilege for me to engage and encourage these young minds!”

Venayagamoorthy teaches graduate courses in fluid mechanics, turbulence, numerical methods and computational fluid dynamics, and undergraduate courses in fluid mechanics and engineering dynamics. He is the Borland Professor of Fluid Mechanics as well as a Monfort Professor.
