Dr. John W Labadie

Biosketch

Professor Labadie is currently Coordinator of the Water Resources Planning and Management Program in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Labadie earned his Ph.D. degree at the University of California at Berkeley, and specializes in application of decision support systems, mathematical programming, knowledge-based systems, artificial intelligence, and geographic information systems to complex problems in water resources and environmental management. He has served as principal or co-principal investigator for numerous research projects totaling over $7 million in research funding from U.S. and international agencies. His international experience includes projects in Egypt, Spain, Portugal, South Korea, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Cyprus. Dr. Labadie has developed important computer software packages currently being applied by several agencies and organizations in the U.S. and abroad, including MODSIM: Generalized River Basin Network Flow Model and CSUDP: Generalized Dynamic Programming Package. Dr. Labadie is a Fulbright Research Scholar, served as senior editor of the ASCE Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management, has received two Annual Best Paper awards, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado.
