My name is Joey Vaupel, and I am graduating with my Civil Engineering Degree this December, 2017. I received an internship with the City of Fort Collins Engineering Department during the summer of 2016. My main responsibility was working with the Pedestrian Improvement Program which focuses on updating sidewalks and curb ramps to the current ADA standards.

It was a great experience to be a part of many projects that I now pass by almost every day such as projects along West Elizabeth and Taft Hill Road. I also helped with construction inspection on some of the larger Capital Projects such as the Prospect and College interchange, and occasionally I was able to help with surveying and data collection. Overall it was a great experience and gave me the opportunity to learn a lot about Civil Engineering. I met and worked with a lot of great people at the City and was lucky to have the opportunity to work there until I graduated.
