Irrigation and Drainage

Facilities & Resources

The research mostly tends to be interdisciplinary, involving joint studies with other departments including Soils and Crops, Agricultural Economics, and Sociology. The research programs are sponsored by CSU Experiment Station, Colorado Water Resources Research Center, and outside agencies such as the National Science Foundation, USDA Agricultural Research Service and Colorado Water Conservation Board.

The department is extremely fortunate to share facilities at the Agricultural Engineering Research Center, and with USDA-Agricultural Research Service personnel who serve as affiliate faculty. The cooperative effort contributes significantly to areas of mutual interest in soil and water resources engineering. Research and demonstration programs are in progress on ecological effects of irrigated agriculture, irrigation scheduling and plant response, improved irrigation management practices, automation of irrigation systems, and precision farming.
