Becki Atadero named program director of college Engineering Education Initiative

Becki AtaderoAssociate Professor Becki Atadero will serve as the first program director of the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering’s new Engineering Education Initiative. The initiative is intended to improve retention, close equity gaps and enhance inclusion in the college.

“The goal of the WSCoE EEI is to act on CSU’s land-grant mission by providing exceptional levels of access to excellent undergraduate engineering programs that meet the unique needs of a diverse population of undergraduates while leveraging the strengths of an R1 research university,” Professor Karan Venayagamoorthy, Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, said in an announcement to college faculty and staff.

“I look forward to working with people across the college to reimagine and update our undergraduate experience,” Atadero said.

In addition to her research in structural engineering, Atadero has conducted extensive research in engineering education, diversity and inclusion. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her teaching, research and service activities, including the Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence Diversity Impact Award from CSU in 2022.
