Agha awarded VPR Graduate Fellowship to research equity and ethics in engineering
Chika Winnifred Agha has been named a Vice President for Research (VPR) Graduate Fellow at CSU for 2024-25. Agha will research the experiences of early-career engineers with equity and ethics in the workplace.
“My research aims to provide insights into the ethical challenges faced by early-career engineers, ultimately promoting a more just and responsible engineering practice,” shared Agha. “The findings will inform engineering education and professional development programs, fostering a more inclusive and ethical profession.”
Agha earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in her home country of Delta State, Nigeria and chose CSU for her graduate degree.
“The Civil and Environmental Engineering department offers a dynamic academic curriculum that seamlessly aligns with my future ambitions. This program allows me to take courses in civil engineering, education, and general university studies. My research interests span ethics, equity, inclusion, education, and the societal impacts of engineering. Although my research is a collaborative effort between CSU and the University of New Mexico, my advisor Dr. Atadero and co-advisor Dr. Omur-Ozbek have been instrumental in my learning process,” said Agha.
