Spring 2021 Engineering Career Fair

Thursday, February 11, 2021

Recruiters from all over the country will join us at the Engineering Career Fair,
the cornerstone event of campus recruiting activities for engineering students.

Source News: College’s first virtual career fair a big success!

Engineering Career Fair, Spring 2020Nearly 700 students in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering talked with 64 employers virtually at the college’s semi-annual Career Fair October 1. For most students, this was the first time they’d ever had a virtual interview. Employers conducted 105 group interviews and more than 1,600 individual interviews with students for internships and jobs.

“We are grateful to the employers, students and our partners at the CSU Career Center who helped us make this first virtual Career Fair a positive experience,” said Anthony Marchese, Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs.

Find out what the students interviewed had to say about the Fall 2020 Engineering Career Fair.

Engineering Career Fair Events

While the pandemic won’t allow us to enjoy the excitement of cramming 100 employers and 1000 students into Canvas Stadium, we have worked with our partners at the Career Center and Handshake to develop an innovative Virtual Engineering Career Fair platform that will maximize the quality of interaction between students and prospective employers. Throughout the week, students will have opportunities for the SHPE Resume Rush, NSBE Mock Interviews, industry info sessions, NSBE Professional Photos, and career guidance sessions.

On the day of Career Fair, students will be able to attend video information sessions and private one-on-one video meetings with employers, which means there will be no waiting in line to talk to recruiters. When you register for the virtual career fair on Handshake, you sign up for specific session times—securing your spot to meet with the employers that you are interested in.

For employers:

  • Employers can host three 30-minute information sessions throughout the day.
  • Employers can screen candidate resumes using the familiar Handshake platform.
  • Virtual presentation allows for reduced registration fees for employers.

Frequently asked questions

  • Are attendees only looking for full-time jobs?
No! Employers need you for their internships, jobs, and co-ops!
  • Should I bring my resume to the career fair?
Absolutely! A resume is an excellent conversation starter when talking to recruiters. For most companies, it will be how they remember your interaction and contact you in the future.
  • Do I need to any research ahead of time?
Having an idea of the companies you’d like to talk to before you walk into the fair will help you be more confident and less scattered in what can be a chaotic environment.
  • How should I be dressed?
The recommended attire at the career fair is Business Professional. First impressions are everything.
  • As a freshman, am I too young or inexperienced to attend the career fair?
No! Students of all ages are encouraged to attend. Companies are looking to hire interns and even freshman get hired. Attending as a freshman is great practice for future career fairs and networking events.
