{"id":14,"date":"2020-02-07T22:20:02","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T22:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.engr.colostate.edu\/SPHPC\/2020\/?page_id=14"},"modified":"2020-02-23T22:18:26","modified_gmt":"2020-02-23T22:18:26","slug":"student-travel-grant","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.engr.colostate.edu\/SPHPC\/2020\/student-travel-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Travel Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Student Travel Grant Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>SPHPC20 welcomes Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows working in the area of silicon photonics and high-performance computing to attend the workshop.\u00a0<strong>SPHPC20 will provide 8-10 student travel grants (each at $700 or actual travel\/registration costs, whichever is less) for attending the workshop<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>In addition, we offer\u00a0free registrations\u00a0to students that will be awarded the travel grant.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be considered for the travel grant at SPHPC20, students should submit the following on EasyChair:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>two-page summary<\/strong>\u00a0(extended abstract) of the Ph.D.\/Postdoc work based on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieee.org\/conferences\/publishing\/templates.html\">IEEE conference template<\/a>. The two-page paper should clearly list the main contributions of the Ph.D.\/Postdoc work. Also, it should include a list of recent publications, if any, in the reference section.\u00a0<strong>Kindly note that this abstract will not be published, but\u00a0 will be made available to the workshop attendees;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>support letter<\/strong>\u00a0from the advisor, sanctioning the submission and acknowledging willingness to support the students\u2019 travel (either fully or as necessary beyond any possible SPHPC student travel support) to the workshop.<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\"><strong>Present a poster<\/strong>\u00a0summarizing your Ph.D.\/Postdoc work at SPHPC20.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All the submissions will be reviewed carefully in terms of quality and relevance to the workshop topics and interests. If your submission is accepted, you must present a poster at SPHPC20.\u00a0Merge all the requirements in a\u00a0<strong>SINGLE PDF FILE<\/strong>\u00a0and submit it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/conferences\/?conf=sphpc20\"><strong>Click Here to Submit Your Application<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(Please make sure to select \u201c<strong>Student Application<\/strong>\u201d under topics!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Poster Presentation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All the travel grant awardees are expected to present their posters at SPHPC. Please note the following regarding your poster presentations:<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<ul>\n<li>You will have a display area sized at maximum 48 inches by 36 inches. You are free to use this area in any way you like (e.g., one large poster, multiple sheets, etc). If you choose to use multiple sheets instead of one poster, you can produce a total of six (6) A4 pages or print a total of twelve (12) PowerPoint presentation slides (2 slides per A4 page).<\/li>\n<li>We will provide thumbtacks (pushpins) to hang your poster on provided boards.
