What to Include in Your Report and Grading Policy

Weight distribution:

    10% Prelab
    40% Hardware circuits and demo
    40% Memo including the required technical items in memo
    10% Instructor discretion

Prelab:
Complete the prelab before coming to the lab. 10%.

Hardware and Software Demonstration:
Demonstration of your hardware circuits and simulation waveforms during the lab session:  40%.

Memo:
Your report should consist of the following: 15%

• a front page in the Banana Electronics memo format;
• schematic diagram of the counter circuit provided with the challenge (attach the "Figure 1: Schematic diagram of accumulator based tally unit" on the challenge page as Figure 1);
• a complete circuit diagram of the entire design implemented by you, including seven-segment decoder and display, generated using Quartus II (attached as Figure 2);
• a simulation diagram demonstrating that the circuit works as intended using three consecutive add operations and a subtract operation. Select 120ns for Simulation time (Figure 3).
  

The text of your memo should include: 25%

• Introductory Paragraph:  state the task in terms of the performance specifications and the required conditions on the inputs. State the design constraints.  
• Analysis Paragraph:  in a single paragraph, say in general what you did to analyze the problem and design the circuit. In this paragraph, present Figures 1 and 2.  
• Results Paragraph:  Include and talk about Figure 3.   
• Conclusions Paragraph:  give a conclusion, stating whether you were successful in completing the task, being careful to mention both simulation and hardware. Discuss what happens in the case the result falls outside the range (0,255), and indicate how this may be indicated.
