Prelab:
Coomplete prelab prior to coming to the lab.  The instructor will sign-off on the prelab: 10%.

Hardware and Demo:
Demonstration of your hardware circuits during your group meeting:  40%.

Memo:
Your report should consist of the following:15%

·  a front page in the Banana Electronics memo format

·  state transition diagram for the counter circuit (attached as Figure 1)

·  next-state maps for the counter (truth table with present states and next states mapping) (Figure 2)

·  input maps for the counter with D flip-flops (K-maps for inputs) (Figure 3)

·  a schematic diagram of the entire design - including seven-segment decoder and display (Figure 4)

·  input maps for the counter with T flip-flops (Figure 5)

·  a schematic diagram for the counter circuit - with D-flip flops (Figure 6-Part 1)

·  a schematic diagram for the counter circuit - with T-flip flops (Figure 6-Part 2)

·  a simulation diagram demonstrating that the D flip-flop based counter sequence is correct (Figure 7)

·  a simulation diagram demonstrating that the T flip-flop based counter sequence is correct (Figure 8) 

The text of your memo should include:25%

• Introductory Paragraph:  state the task in terms of the performance specs and the required condition on the inputs.  State the design constraints  5%;
• Analysis Paragraph:  in one single paragraph, state in general what you did to analyze the problem and design the circuit.  In this paragraph, present Figures 1, 2, and 3, 4, 5, 6  5%;
• Next state equations for each counter flip-flop for the two designs - center each of these equations on a separate line on your page 5%;
• Results Paragraph:  Include Figures 7, 8  5%;
• Conclusions Paragraph:  give a conclusion, stating whether you were successful in completing the task, being careful to mention both simulation and hardware  5%;

If possible, condense the text of your memo onto two pages.
