Why You Are Doing This Project
With this project you are designing your second circuit using flip-flops. Registers come in different forms and are important building blocks of almost all complex digital systems. You will create a register and adder/subtracter combination integrated with a display. The arithmetic operation is performed with register providing one of the operands and the result gets stored in the same register. A register used in such a configuration is called an accumulator. Early microprocessors as well as many microcontrollers use accumulator based operations as it is hardware efficient. In addition, you will learn to assemble more complex circuitry using pre-designed modules. It is hoped that you will apply your writing skills to producing a report with a truly professional tone.
