Grading Policy and What to Include in your
Report
Weight
distribution:
30% Hardware circuits and
demo + Attached Pre-lab
45% Required
technical items in memo
25% Memo itself
5% Neatness bonus
Penulties applicable for this and other labs include
-5% for not stapling your report together, -10% per day for
lateness if not delivered to your lab instructor on due
date, -5% for hand written sections, and -10%
for not following the proper format.
Each of the figures in the memo has to include a
caption which includes the Figure number, e.g.,
"Figure 12: Photograph of Banana Electronic Employees, Jan.
2007." You will not receive the points for the figure if the
caption is missing.
Your
report should consist of the following:
- A front page in the Banana Electronics memo
format (check out the Preparing the
Memo ) 10%.
- A detailed algebraic analysis (attached as
Figure 1) showing simplification, if any, of the equations in
Part 1 5%,
- Circuit designs for Part 1 and Part 2
(Figure 2 and 3) 10%,
- Timing diagrams for each of the
circuits illustrating
the output for all input combinations (Figures 4,5) 10%.
- Truth
tables for Part 1 and Part 2 (Figure 6 and 7) 10%,
- The text of your 1-page memo should include
- Paragraph 1: state the tasks in a few
sentences and mention the constraints imposed on your
designs 5%;
- Analysis Paragraph: in a single
paragraph, state in general what you did to simplify the
equations and design the circuits. Refer specifically to
Figures 1, 2 and 3 5%;
- First Results Paragraph: present your
results for Part 1, referring specifically to Figure 2 &
4, which are attached 5%;
- Second Results Paragraph: present your
results for the circuit timing for Part 2, referring
specifically to Figures 3 and 5, which are attached 5%;
- Conclusions Paragraph: give a
conclusion, stating whether you were successful in
completing each task 5%.
