Officer Responsibilities
November 2004
President
- Keep correspondence with National Headquarters up to date
including submittal of required reports for initiation ceremonies.
- Attend the National Convention (Usually the first weekend in
October, expenses paid for voting delegate)
- Keeping faculty advisors abreast of chapter events and
projects.
- Presiding over all votes pertaining to the chapter and the
national organization (Constitution & Bylaw amendments National
Executive Council elections, etc.)
- Arranging meeting times and locations with Dean's office.
- Obtaining eligible student list in fall and spring, and list
of top 5% of sophomore class in spring. • Writing letter of
invitation for eligible students.
- Designating all committees, and defining their
responsibilities. (Committees may be created for activities such
as Tau Beta Pi-in-the-face, Outstanding Sophomore Award, Bent
Polishing, community service, etc.)
Vice President
- Responsible for scheduling fall and spring initiation
ceremonies with Events Planning (Lory Student Center).
- Responsible for distribution of letters of invitation to
departments.
- Responsible for filling out eligibility reports in the fall
and spring semesters prior to initiation and after. (Report of
Eligibility, Report of Election, Report of Final Action).
- Finding ushers for fall and spring commencement ceremonies.
Secretary
- Maintaining chapter email and phone list, and communication
with chapter for fall and through email and phone.
- Keeping attendance at meetings.
- Passing out, collecting and dry cleaning graduation stoles
spring commencement ceremonies.
- Keeping minutes at officer and chapter meetings.
- Copying and collating letters of invitation for distribution.
Treasurer
- Collecting all checks and money for dues, graduation stole
rental.
- Depositing all money in the TBP bank account at Key Bank in
Old Town.
- Filing all financial statements from National Headquarters,
and Key Bank.
- Paying all bills due to National headquarters.
- Paying all bills for initiation ceremonies, and other
activities requiring en masse payment.
