Scholarships & Financial Aid
Current students have strong scholarship opportunities. Because the engineering program has high standards for admission, our students are in a good position for the best awards.
Scholarships
Returning and transfer students who do not already have a renewable college/departmental scholarship can apply for annual scholarships during January and February, to be awarded for the following academic year. The College of Engineering has a large number of merit-based scholarships, typically in the range of $1000 to $4000. Academic performance and involvement in extracurricular activities are important criteria used in awarding scholarships. From December to the March 1 submission deadline, undergraduate students fill out the online CSU Scholarship Application (CSUSA) located on RamWeb.
The criteria for each scholarship is specified by the sponsor. Students need to maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in order to be considered, and while receiving the scholarship need to carry at least 14 credits per semester leading toward an engineering degree.
Students who apply to the College of Engineering should explore various opportunities:
- External Scholarships - There are many organizations outside of Colorado State which offer external scholarships.
- University Scholarships - CSU Student Financial Services offers University scholarships to qualified students. Some are one-time scholarships while others are renewable up to a total of four years, provided the student performs at a specified minimum level and carries a full class load. Because of the higher admission standards in the College of Engineering, many engineering students are offered renewable scholarships.
- College and Department Scholarships - The College of Engineering and its departments also offer scholarships. Some of these scholarships are for one year, while others are renewable up to four years, provided the student maintains at specified minimum level and registers for at least 14 credits per semester counting toward an engineering degree.
Each spring, our scholarship donors and student recipients come together for a luncheon to celebrate the accomplishments of the next generation of engineers made possible by our alumni and friends.

Financial Aid
Colorado State’s Student Financial Services Office provides a great deal of information and support and they assist with questions regarding applying for financial aid. Every family has unique situations that may make a difference in the process. Keep in mind that an early application for admission and financial aid may be helpful. The priority deadline for financial aid is March 1.
