What kind of computer do students need to bring?
As a new student to CSU, you may be wondering: "Do I need to bring my own computer?"
This may surprise you, but we don’t recommend purchasing your own computer at all. This advice applies particularly to first-year students, especially those staying in the Academic Village residence hall Your student ID card will give you 24-hour access to the state-of-the-art computer labs that have all the software needed for your coursework. (Yes, you can check e-mail and play Flash games on the computers, too.)
Most importantly, the Sun Ray thin clients provide world-wide access to all engineering software.
Many students find it more convenient to bring their own computer since it may be convenient to have a computer in class for note-taking. All residence halls on campus are connected to the CSU network. Regardless of whether you live in a dorm or off-campus, you can use any computer connected to the Internet to access our Engineering Virtual Lab.
