Software

OK, the computer's got to have an operating system. Go with Fedora, CentOS, or Ubuntu (for Linux), Mac OS X (for Apple hardware), or Windows 7 Professional (not Home and not Vista ? neither "play well" on the CSU network).

What else?

  • An office productivity suite such as OpenOffice (a free download) or Microsoft Office (version 2007 is in our computer labs)
  • An antivirus software such as Symantec Antivirus (a free license from the university once you arrive)

All other software needed for classes will be provided in the labs.

If you need a copy of Windows 7 Pro, one is provided for you at no cost via the MSDNAA ELMS Program. The MSDNAA ELMS program is only available to students in the CSU College of Engineering.
