Two ways to study

CSU’s Systems Engineering Program offers the following program options:

When applying for a Systems Engineering graduate program, you can choose to study online or on-campus. Curriculum, requirements, and the application process is the same for both options.

Instructions to apply for all programs

All applicants are expected to review this information to ensure they have a complete and competitive application.

All materials must be received by these dates for a complete application:

Spring: November 1

Summer: No Admission

Fall: July 1

Steps to Apply

  1. Download and read the complete application packet (above), which details all requirements and admissions materials needed.
  2. When you are ready to apply, begin your Graduate School application.
  3. When asked for type of Program, choose “Certificate” and then choose “Systems Engineering Practice (Certificate)” from the drop-down menu.
  4. Submit all required supplemental materials by the deadline posted above. Refer to the application packet for where to send materials.
  5. Submit your finalized Graduate School application and pay the non-refundable application fee.
  6. Check the status of your application to ensure all materials are received by the deadline.

Upon receipt of all your application materials, your application is reviewed by the admissions committee. Once a decision has been made, it can take 4 weeks before you receive official notification from the Graduate School.

    • M.E. Select ‘Systems Engineering (M.E.)’ when choosing the program of study.
    • M.S. Select ‘Systems Engineering (M.S.)’ when choosing the program of study (note that M.S. Plan A students must secure a faculty advisor before the application will be considered; Plan B students do not need a faculty advisor).
  3. Submit all required supplemental materials by the deadline posted above. Refer to the application packet for where to send materials.
  4. Submit your finalized Graduate School application and pay the non-refundable application fee.
  5. Check the status of your application to ensure all materials are received by the deadline.

  2. Secure a permanent faculty advisor. Please review the application packet for vital information on this process. You must have an advisor before your application will be considered.
  3. When you are ready to apply, begin your Graduate School application.
    • Select ‘Systems Engineering (Ph.D.)’ when choosing the program of study
  4. Submit all required supplemental materials by the deadline posted above. Refer to the application packet for where to send materials.
  5. Submit your finalized Graduate School application and pay the non-refundable application fee.
  6. Check the status of your application to ensure all materials are received by the deadline.
