Economic Development

The College of Engineering's Economic Development Initiative ascribes to the philosophy of "driving the future through innovation and entrepreneurship." In effect, it is going "back to the future" in realizing the purpose of land grant institutions in the 21st century. Because of the college's extensive research program and number of well-educated graduates, there is an opportunity to build productive two-way relationships with industry and extend the impact of our current programs.

We take a broad view of economic development. We contribute to the economy on a local, regional, national, and international scale, not only through research dollars, but through the development of an educated workforce, the transfer of technology to and from industry, and direct expenditures.
