Industry Relations

The Mechanical Engineering Department is a vibrant community of students, staff, researchers, and faculty.

This community is working on interesting mechanical engineering problems in a number of important areas. About 50% of the annual $4 million research expenditures in the department is industry-supported research. The research areas and related faculty are listed in the Research section of this web site, and include energy and the environment, advanced materials, and bioengineering.

We are interested in informing you about our activities, and also strengthening our ties to our industrial and corporate partners. In addition to direct sponsorship of research projects, we have industrial partners on our Advisory Panel (MEAP) and industry support of the Senior Design Practicum.

The Mechanical Engineering Department has a number of Spinoff Companies that have been formed as a result of the research innovations developed by Mechanical Engineering faculty, staff, and students.
