About Microsoft Imagine
ENS is pleased to offer to all Engineering students and faculty enrollment in the Microsoft Imagine program!
Microsoft Imagine (formerly DreamSpark) is a Microsoft Program that supports technical education by providing access to Microsoft software for learning, teaching and research purposes. This program allows eligible users to obtain a personal copy of several Microsoft products at no cost (excluding optional media shipping costs) through the Imagine web site.
Frequently asked questions about Microsoft Imagine
Where do I go for Microsoft Imagine questions?
First, sign into your Imagine account on the Imagine web site. At the top of the screen, below your name, you will see a "Help" link. You'll find the answers to most of your Imagine questions here.
If you need further help, please contact ENS.
How do I get enrolled?
If you are an eligible member of the College of Engineering, please contact the ENS Help Desk to receive your Imagine user ID and password.
How do I know if I'm eligible?
Students enrolled in Engineering classes, faculty, and professional support staff whose responsibility primarily involves maintaining departmental labs are eligible to install Imagine software onto their personal computers for evaluation purposes only. Staff not involved in teaching students or supporting labs are not eligible for Imagine.
Where should I report technical problems with the Imagine web site?
First, sign into your Imagine account on the Imagine web site. At the top of the screen, below your name, you will see a "Help" link. Click the Help link, and at the bottom of the page, you will see a "Contact Us" link.
Where should I go for technical problems with the software I downloaded?
Please understand that the software available from the Microsoft Imagine web site is provided without support from ENS. You will need to use the help resources from Imagine (see "Where do I go for Imagine questions", above.)
What software is available?
Windows, Project, Visio, Visual Studio and others are available. Microsoft Office is available through the campus Office 365 contract. The list constantly changes and we cannot keep an updated list here. For
the full listing, please see the Software section in the Imagine web site.
How do I get the software?
You must order the software you choose using the Imagine web site.
From this site, you choose which software and version you want to download, and add it to your cart. When you click "Add to cart", you will be taken to your cart, where you can either continue to shop or check out. If you choose to check out, you will be taken to an End-User License Agreement (EULA) which you should read and accept. Then the site will ask for your first name, last name and email address (to send you a receipt of your order). Fill this information out, then click Proceed With Order. The final page will be the receipt. This page contains the product key you will need to license the software. Make a copy of this product key!
At this point, you can click on the "Start Download" link. You will have to download a Software Download Manager (SDM) and then the .SDX file(s) of the software you have ordered. (The SDM only needs to be downloaded once.) Once you have finished the download, you will have a disc image (.ISO file) on your computer, which you can burn to a CD or DVD and then install on your computer.
