
Archive Service InformationIn addition to standard network backups of the file services structure, ENS can provide electronic archive service for other College of Engineering computers. Per the information below, this service can be tailored to the size and importance of the data. Contact ENS if you have requests or questions. Tier 1: Data remains live and backed upTier 1 data is kept live on the group's server and is also backed up on the college's tape backup library. However, the data is not readily available and must be requested from the ENS system administrators. The cost to archive data as described is 80% of the normal ENS File Services charges. Tier 2: Data is backed up onlyTier 2 data does not remain on a group server, but does remain on the College's tape backup library. The data must be requested from an ENS system administrator and, depending on the size of the data, will take some time to restore. The cost to archive data as described is 40% of the normal ENS File Services charges. Tier 3: Data is stored on removable media and held by ENSTier 3 data is copied to CD/DVD/or tape and two copies are kept by ENS. As with Tier 2, the data must be requested from an ENS system administrator and, depending on the size of the data, will take some time to restore. The cost to archive data in this manner is 10% of the normal ENS File Services charges, plus the cost of the storage media. Tier 4: Data is stored on removable media and held by the ownerTier 4 data is copied to CD/DVD/or tape and kept by the owner. The cost to archive data in this manner is a one-time charge of $25 per copy, plus the cost of the storage media. |
