As one of the largest graduate programs at Colorado State University, we believe in the advancement of knowledge through research and scientific exploration. Our faculty and students are active in conducting interdisciplinary research at the forefront of their areas of focus and their work has been highly cited in numerous publications and journals.
As a department, we are engaged
in a number of research projects and
collaborations with other universities and key partners,
and each summer we offer two Research
Experience for Undergraduates programs, which are designed
to provide research experience for ECE undergraduates. The
ECE Department also is a key player in the university-wide Information
Sciences and Technology Center (ISTeC), an organization
focused on increasing the excellence and visibility of information
science and technology research, education, and outreach
activities at Colorado State.
In 2003 the National Science Foundation awarded two Engineering
Research Centers to the department. The NSF
ERC for Extreme Ultra Violet Science and Technology focuses
on the development and application of compact sources of
coherent extreme ultraviolet light, which impacts areas such
as the prodution of future generations of computer chips.
The NSF ERC
for Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere (CASA) is
an interdisciplinary effort with the Department of Atmospheric
Science, which focuses on improved methods for detecting
and predicting dangerous weather using networks of radars.
