80 ECE alumni, faculty, staff, and friends returned to campus on May 9 to celebrate the lifetime achievements of Emeritus Professor Carl Wilmsen. Attendees traveled from all over the U.S. for the opportunity to reconnect and thank Professor Wilmsen for his personal and professional contributions.
"I was overwhelmed and touched," said Emeritus Professor Wilmsen. "I really enjoyed visiting with former students and faculty." Wilmsen, who retired in 2003, served as a professor in the department for 37 years. He was department head from 1982 to 1987.
The three-hour event included an intimate dinner with brief remarks from alumni who credited Wilmsen for their successes. During the cocktail reception, guests enjoyed reminiscing, while watching a digital photo display that spanned Wilmsen's career at Colorado State (see Related Links to download a copy of the photos).
As a special touch, Professor Wilmsen's latest endeavor, his artwork, was showcased at the dinner. Alumni and friends were impressed with his unique, intricate birds handcrafted from wire and mounted on elements founds in nature.
