Reising Named to New Roles in Professional Societies

May 2008 - Dr. Steven Reising, ECE associate professor, recently was named VP of Technical Activities for the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society. In his new role, Reising will work with the chairs and co-chairs of the five international technical committees to promote collaboration on recent developments in remote sensing by more than 2500 Society members. In addition, Reising will serve as one of two Technical Program Co-Chairs of the IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium in Boston this July. More than 1500 attendees are expected, and more than 2100 technical papers are scheduled for presentation.

Additionally, Reising was elected as Secretary of the U.S. National Committee (USNC) of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) for 2009-2011.  After three years, the Secretary normally becomes the Chair of USNC-URSI. URSI is an international organization of engineers and scientists who employ the study of radio waves spanning the spectrum in the design of electronic components and systems as well as the study of the earth, the sun and celestial bodies.
