Colorado State University honored eight professors Thursday at
its annual Celebrate Colorado State! luncheon for their work in
teaching and research.
Four professors earned the university
distinguished professor title, the highest recognition awarded for
outstanding accomplishments in research and scholarship:
Jan Leach, professor of plant pathology in the Department of
Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management, College of Agricultural
Sciences.
Karolin Luger, professor of biochemistry, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, College of Natural Sciences.Jorge
Rocca, professor of electrical engineering and physics, Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering.John Sofos, professor of animal sciences, Department of Animal Sciences, College of Agricultural Sciences.The
group has taught students for a collective 100 years, published and
presented hundreds of papers and received tens of millions of dollars
in research grants, according to CSU.
Two professors earned the
University Distinguished Teaching Scholars honor, which goes to 12
outstanding faculty members. The newest winners were:
Douglas Hoffman in the Department of Marketing.Nancy E. Levinger in the Department of Chemistry.Richard
Knight, a professor in the Department of Forest, Rangeland, and
Watershed Stewardship in the Warner College of Natural Resources,
earned the Board of Governors Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching
Award. Knight has been a CSU faculty member since 1989.
C. Wayne
McIlwraith, professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences in the
College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, took home the
university's Scholarship Impact Award, one of CSU's top annual honors
for research accomplishments
The award includes $10,000 to support McIlwraith's research.
