Description: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Colorado State University is seeking an electrical and/or computer engineer to provide long-term consistent, professional support of our instructional laboratories (circuits, electronics, and digital design). This is a full-time, 12 month administrative professional position reporting to the Manager of Operations, and will collaborate with faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and undergraduate students to design, implement, troubleshoot, maintain, and sustain our undergraduate laboratories.

We believe it is especially important in this high-tech discipline to ensure that our students’ learning tools and labs are current and fully operational. We provide our students with strong faculty and staff support services, operating in a collegial and professional environment. The department has 25 faculty and 3 instructors and offers an ABET accredited degree along with MS, ME and PhD degrees in a wide range of research areas.
Requirements: 1. Prior experience in using and managing a wide variety of lab instrument in electrical and/or computer engineering or closely related discipline. BS or advanced degree preferred.
2. Preference given to candidates with direct experience in circuit, electronic, and computer design and test.
3. Practicing knowledge of LabView, MatLab, Simulink and circuit design tools (such as Cadence design tools) highly desirable.
4. Experience with normal office software (spreadsheets, email, word processing, etc.).
5. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with faculty and students for advising and trouble shooting.
Duties and Responsibilities: The successful applicant will: 1. evaluate status of our undergraduate laboratories – apparatus, experiments, infrastructure; 2. install and calibrate new apparatus, experiments, design and control software, and lab infrastructure; 3. maintain and upgrade/replace laboratory equipment and support infrastructure as necessary; 4. supervise student lab technicians and web developers; 5. participate in our ABET undergraduate electrical and computer engineering accreditation; 6. write, debug, and implement control software (eg. Labview); 7. instruct students in laboratory safety, processes, hardware, software and experimental process; 8. coordinate equipment inventory; 9. select, evaluate, install and maintain software and computers in the department; and 10. develop written laboratory practices, protocols and lab manuals.
