Giving

Why is your support so important? Private support of the department’s efforts is essential to attracting and retaining the highest caliber educators and students. A gift of any amount enables us to work toward our goal of enhancing the engineering education that our students receive and better prepare them for tomorrow’s challenges.

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." Winston Churchill

The ECE Department, in collaboration with the College of Engineering Development Office, is committed to strengthening the department by enhancing its image; increasing the financial base from private donors and investors; and creating and sustaining partnerships among those inside and outside of engineering.

We continually evaluate our programs to determine our most critical needs. Below is a listing of the highest funding priorities for the ECE Department. If you would like to support another program or area that is not listed here, please contact our Development Office at (970) 491-7028 for assistance. They will help facilitate the donation and ensure your gift is allocated to the area of your choice.

Current ECE Funding Priorities
  • Opportunity Fund - Discretionary funding that impacts students on many levels – from new technology, lab equipment, and materials for special projects to scholarships and fellowships that make it possible for students to enrich their lives through education.
  • Endowed Chairs - Assure the attraction of outstanding electrical and computer engineering faculty.
  • Senior Projects Fund - Provides support for our senior design program, allowing ECE students to fully participate in design competitions.
  • Scholarships - Help talented students reach their potential and realize their dreams.
Gifts-in-Kind

Do you or your company have equipment or other items that could assist the ECE department with its research and teaching objectives? Gifts-in-kind ensure that the ECE department remains cutting-edge. Gifts-in-kind can be in the form of new or used equipment, materials, company products, or inventory. Generally, the fair market value of a gift-in-kind is deductible, but federal regulations do not permit the College of Engineering or Colorado State University to provide appraisals or estimates of value. The Development Office staff will work with you to determine whether the item can be of use to the department and will help you with the paperwork involved. Donors should consult a tax expert for specific questions about charitable deductions for gifts-in-kind.

If you would like to learn more about providing a gift-in-kind to the ECE department, please contact the Development Office. They can discuss with you the ways in which your donation can help us meet our goals and at the same time provide possible federal and state income tax benefits for you or your company.

Matching Gifts

Did you know it might be possible to double or even triple the value of your gift to the ECE department if your company matches employee contributions to higher education? Taking advantage of this benefit is a great way to maximize the impact of your donation! Find out here if your company will match your gift.
