Project Description:

-Our research group is geared towards being able to sustain a plasma in an electrolyte.  We will create the plasma through inductive coupling, rather than the more common capacitive coupling.  We plan on developing methods to sustain a plasma which we ignited the first semester

Project accomplishments:

-We have been able to get a feel for customizing inductor design.

-Although we haven't been able to sustain a plasma yet,. we were able to ignite a plasma in a vacuum chamber.

Future goals:

-Modeling inductor design using Maxwell software package.

        -Experiment with different inductor designs.

        -Efficient matching network building.

-Different electrolytes in which we will try and ignite the plasma.

Timeline:

-We hope to start moving from our experimentations with gas towards an electrolyte as the medium for plasma ignition.
