Departments & Programs

Atmospheric Science
Our atmospheric scientists address weather, climate, and environmental issues. Central to our mission are the discovery of knowledge; the preparation of future leaders; and the development of observational, modeling and analysis techniques.

Biomedical Engineering
The School of Biomedical Engineering combines CSU's strengths in veterinary medicine, engineering, and the sciences to provide an interdisciplinary focus on improving health, fighting disease, and aiding persons with disabilities.

Chemical & Biological Engineering
Chemical and biological engineering’s research areas are broken into five main categories: polymer science, biological engineering, mathematical modeling, environmental engineering, and transport phenomena.

Civil & Environmental Engineering
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers a rich and diverse program of coursework and research opportunities, from "wet" areas like hydrology and stream restoration to "dry" structural and geotechnical engineering.

Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere
CIRA conducts research in the atmospheric sciences of mutual benefit to NOAA, Colorado State University, the State, and the Nation. CIRA provides a center for cooperation in research by scientists, staff, and students, and to enhance the training of atmospheric scientists.

Electrical & Computer Engineering
Led by dynamic faculty who are internationally recognized in their disciplines, the department's research spans these core areas: biomedical engineering, communications and signal processing; computer engineering; controls and robotics; electromagnetics and remote sensing; lasers, optics, and applications; and systems engineering.

Engineering Science
Engineering science students choose from three concentrations and two dual degrees: engineering physics, space engineering, engineering education, international engineering and international studies, and the dual degree program in engineering and the liberal arts.

Mechanical Engineering
Faculty work with students to create and share new knowledge in advanced materials and plasmas, biomedical engineering, energy and environment, motorsport engineering, and systems engineering.
