After working many years in academia and industry, most recently at BP, Dr. Smith joined the CBE department in Fall, 2004 where he now teaches the senior process design sequence as well as the junior and senior unit operations labs. He is also involved in several departmental initiatives such as undergraduate recruiting and alumni relations. Dr. Smith's area of expertise is the development, design, and commercialization of chemical and biochemical processes. He is a consultant for Solix on the design and commercialization of an algae to biodiesel process.
