Welcome from the Department Head

We are very pleased that you are visiting the website for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Department offers a rich and diverse program of studies and research opportunities. We benefit from having faculty with expertise in many areas of Civil and Environmental Engineering as well as faculty with soil and water expertise which students can benefit from by enrolling in our soil and water minor. The faculty involved in the soil and water minor were formerly in the Bioresource and Agricultural Engineering program. We offer undergraduate degrees in both Civil Engineering and in Environmental Engineering. At the graduate level, we offer M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Civil Engineering. Our department is ranked in the top 30 for both Civil and Environmental Engineering in the US as well as having a worldwide reputation for excellence. We take pride in having alumni around the world and continue to train students to become leaders in our field, both in the US and abroad.

Our department realizes the critical role that Civil and Environmental Engineering plays in the lives of the citizenry of Colorado, the nation, and the international community. Our faculty conduct research, and outreach in areas of critical need including water, environment, and infrastructure. We take pride in having an outstanding set of faculty members that in many instances are conducting leading edge research and bring it into the classroom for the benefit of our students. Our goal is to provide students with a rewarding and challenging educational experience that is second to none. As civil and environmental engineers, our students will have the knowledge to improve the quality of everyday life for all of us.
