Funding Opportunities

Prospective Graduate Students are automatically considered for all available research assistantships, teaching assistantships, and scholarships after they have been accepted to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering’s graduate program. There is no need to fill out a scholarship application form for scholarships administered by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Information provided as part of the application for admission is used to make the selection for these awards. Research assistantships are offered by individual faculty members based on the funding available from research projects. Teaching assistantships are offered by the department to about six students based on the strength of their application and their ability to advance the educational mission of the department. Scholarships are awarded based on the strength of the prospective student’s application. Prospective students are considered on a continuous basis as applications are received for admission. Typically, about 60 scholarship are awarded to prospective and current graduate students totaling more than $90,000. Scholarship amounts range from $250 to $2500, depending on the available funds and strength of application.

Travel Reimbursement Awards

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering also offers a limited number of travel reimbursements for prospective graduate students who live out of state and would like to visit the campus. The department will reimburse up to $250 of actual travel costs upon submittal of receipts. To be eligible for a travel reimbursement, prospective students should request a recommendation from one of CSU’s Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty before visiting the campus.
