Spring 2008 Internship Applications are now Closed

The North Front Range Transportation Research Internship Program (NFR-TRIP) is a student employment activity of the Mountain Plains Consortium. CSU, in conjunction with city and county governments in northern Colorado, annually arranges and offers several internships in the field of transportation. These are available to CSU Civil Engineering undergraduate majors at the junior and senior levels, including graduating seniors. The types of projects recently involved:
  • Mason Street corridor planning
  • Bicycle and pedestrian planning
  • County construction permit tracking
  • Transit surveys
  • Map, analysis, and documentation of MS4 stormwater features
  • Safe Routes to School program
  • Sediment and erosion inspections
  • Colorado Land Survey Monument Record documentation
  • Right of Way investigation
The internships typically extend through one semester plus a summer. Hours are contingent on the scope and timing of each project. Usually this is 20 hours/week in summer and 10-12 hours/week during the semester. Some employers require more hours, some up to full time in the summer. Compensation for the internship is on an hourly pay basis. The interns work at the site of the projects, in some cases with a consultant.

CSU and the North Front Range Transportation, Planning and Air Quality Council organize these internships. Internships are arranged in cooperation with local transportation agencies in order to promote an ongoing relationship between the university and the government.
