ASME is an international professional organization that is designed for engineers. ASME once meant American Society of Mechanical Engineers, which has changed. ASME has been broadened to not only mechanical engineers but all aspects of engineering internationally. The student section here at Colorado State University offers many things that benefit the students. We bring speakers to the college, we have competitive regional and national design competitions, and we offer a studying location in the ASME Lounge. We also participate in fundraising activities such as the Coffee Cart, sell engineering T-shirts, and thermodynamic lab manuals. One of the greatest things that ASME student section offers is the opportunity to get involved with extracurricular activities where we can broaden ourselves as individuals. Along the way we meet professors, leaders in the business, and friends that will help us to become professionals.
The student section of ASME was designed to have the students decide on many different issues and topics that arise. The students of Colorado State Engineering organized barbeques, created new and exciting subcommittees, and designed the overall structure of the student section of ASME. It is important that the students develop ASME because it is the students organization. Student participation will bring ASME to new limits!
ASME has developed engineers in the past and is dedicated to bringing leaders into the professional engineering world. Whether you want to become an active officer to help run ASME, participate in the Coffee Cart, compete in student design, vote on issues to create a strong organization, or just to get free food from time to time ASME has what you are looking for.
Please join us for the ASME meetings held every other Monday at 5:30pm. (Meeting areas will be posted at least a week in advance)
