Nominations Being Sought for COE's 2007 Distinguished
Alumni Awards

The College of Engineering (COE) recognizes former students whose accomplishments in their careers, service to industry and the public, and/or volunteer efforts have brought honor to that individual, the College of Engineering, and to Colorado State University.

Each year, the College of Engineering honors one outstanding alumnus from each of our five academic departments, as well as one alum who graduated with an engineering science degree and one college-wide honoree. In addition, this year the college will be honoring a graduate of the last decade. Awards will be presented at our annual awards dinner on Saturday, March 31.

Nominate an individual for a 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award. Award nominations are being accepted through November 30, 2006.
International Opportunities Increase for Students
The profession of engineering is being transformed by the globalization of the world economy. Many engineering companies have become global enterprises, and engineers need different skills than what were required five years ago to be successful in this emerging environment. U.S. based engineers are engaging in design, planning, and maintenance activities with partners across the globe. This requires greater understanding and sensitivity to multi-cultural problems.

The College of Engineering at Colorado State University currently offers several international programs and is developing new ones to prepare future engineers to have long-term careers in a global engineering profession. Learn more about the opportunities COE has underway to expand knowledge on international engineering.

Homecoming Week Reunites Friendships and Memories

College of Engineering alumni visited campus during homecoming/family week. In conjunction with CSU activities, the COE held its annual 50+ Year Homecoming Reunion Dinner on October 7. About 20 alumni, who graduated 50 or more years ago, enjoyed an evening of conversation and sharing of memories with classmates. Participants were also treated to a presentation highlighting campus life at CSU in the 1930's, 40's and 50's.

The following day alumni visited the COE's Internet Cafe for breakfast and discussions with faculty and staff. Tours were then given of several labs before alumni departed for other campus activities.

Many alumni were thankful for the opportunity to reconnect with friends and CSU and look forward to next year's events. (back to top)
