Jobs, Internships, & Co-Ops
Engineering Jobs
Engineering Students have a variety of job, internships, and Co-Ops available to them. These opportunities are sent to us directly from engineering employers, the CSU Career Center, or CSU staff and faculty members. The jobs can be viewed online at the Career Center. In addition, the Career Center subscribes to a variety of engineering job posting publications that you can look through for opportunities. Visit John Haines' Office, Engineering room 102 to see these publications.
What is an Internship?
Internships are any carefully monitored work or service experience in which an individual has intentional learning goals and reflects actively on what she or he is learning throughout the experience. These learning goals may include:- Academic learning - The individual can apply knowledge learned in the classroom to the workplace.
- Career development - The individual gains a knowledge of the qualifications and duties of a position and can explore their interest in a field.
- Skill development - The individual gains an understanding of the skills and knowledge required in the workplace.
- Personal development - The individual gains decision making skills, critical thinking skills, increased confidence and self-esteem.
The important element that distinguishes an internship from a short-term job or community service is the "intentional learning agenda" that the intern brings to the experience.
What is a co-op?
A Co-Op is a full-time 6 month paid work experience related to your major alternating with academic semesters which will involve the need to leave campus to pursue this experience. Students participating in the Co-Op program will continue to be enrolled students for the duration of the program. If you have further questions, contact John Haines, College of Engineering Career Counselor.
